The Dangling Participles - Single Cover Design & Illustration

The Dangling Participles are a local Lansing band who reached out to me to design the cover for their newest single, She Will Rise—a song that celebrates the resilience of women artists and creatives overcoming adversity. As a female artist myself, I felt a strong personal connection to the theme and took great joy in bringing it to life visually.

The final design depicts the silhouette of a woman standing before a rising phoenix, surrounded by swirling ashes. The composition symbolizes transformation, rebirth, and creative strength emerging from struggle. I began the project by sketching several thumbnail concepts to explore mood and balance before refining the chosen design. The illustration was created using a combination of Procreate and Adobe Fresco, allowing for expressive textures and flowing linework to enhance the sense of motion and renewal. I completed the piece in Photoshop, adding typography and final adjustments to unify the design for print and digital use.
