For this year’s Mighty Uke Day Festival, I was commissioned to design and illustrate the event’s mascot, Backbeat Bunny. The goal was to create a fun, energetic character that blended hip-hop style with the ukulele’s lively Hawaiian roots. The final design features a confident bunny dressed in Hawaiian-print clothing, grooving with his ukulele in hand—embodying the playful, musical spirit of the festival.

I began by brainstorming and sketching character concepts in my sketchbook, experimenting with poses, expressions, and style details. Once the sketch was finalized, I refined the linework in Procreate and completed the final vector illustration in Adobe Fresco, allowing for clean shapes and bold, vibrant color. The result is a dynamic and approachable mascot that captures both rhythm and personality.
